Over the past couple of months God has been giving me a vision of two girls who are about to get in a fight. Naturally I was quite confused. But as I began to pray about it, God slowly started putting the pieces together. Now when you see a movie, or a skit or something with girls about to fight, what is the one cliche thing that they ALWAYS say? "Giiirl let me take my earrings out!" right? Do you know why they take their earrings out? #1 So they don't hinder the girls during the fight and #2 girls will often put them in between their fingers to help them in the fight.
So how does this have any spiritual significance? The earrings represent the things in our past that hinder us from fighting back against the devil. So just as girls use their earrings as "weapons" in a fight, we need to use those things in our past as weapons. We can say, "yes I've messed up in that area before, but because of that I am closer to God than I have ever been." For those of you who have your ears pierced, do you remember how sore your ears were after you got them done? But if you properly cleaned and cared for your piercing, after just a short amount of time they no longer hurt. It's the same way with the things we go through. At first we may be hurting inside, but if we allow God to clean and care for that wound it no longer hurts. Now after your ears have been pierced for awhile, the holes don't just go away. They are a constant reminder of the piercing, whether you choose to wear earrings still or not. Just like we will always have things that remind us of our past, but we can choose not to constantly dwell on them.
One last thought, odds are whichever girl wins the fight is not going to walk away from it without a few cuts and bruises. In the same way, we are not likely to walk away from a fight with satan with no cuts or gashes even. But hey, there's nothing wrong with a few battle wounds is there? Besides, you should see the other guy! ;) So I don't know about you, but I am so ready to fight like a girl!
Here are a few verses I felt lead to read while God was showing me this.
2 Corinthians 10:4
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
Ephesians 6:10
And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we'll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Philippians 3:13-14
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
